Marco Bazzoli

He graduated in trombone, choral music and choral conducting, band instrumentation, as well as in composition and orchestra conducting. Since 1989 he also carries out a research and revaluation work on 16th century Vocal Polyphony with the Vocal Group for chamber music "Il Virtuoso Ritrovo" of Trento, with which he performs in Italy and abroad. He has directed many ensembles as the Trentino Brass Band, the Ottoni del Concilio and the Ottoni Italiani "En chamade". Since 1989 he is conductor of the band Corpo Musicale di Gardolo (Trento), and his work with the Corpo Musicale di Gardolo, in national and international competitions, has been awarded with the 1st prize in the Small Band category of the international band competition "Flicorno d'Oro" where he also obtained the jury's special mention for the direction. He is often invited to conduct the Grande Banda Rappresentativa of the Association of Bands of the Province of Trento with which he took part to the Wasbe Conference in Schladming (Austria) and to the 52nd Midwest Clinic of Chicago (U.S.A.). Actually he is conductor of the Civica Banda Musicale di Padova and since June 2000 he is often called to conduct The Civica Orchestra di fiati of Milan, two of the best professional wind orchestras. He is also member of the technical committee of the Trentino Association of Bands, artistic director of the European Band Institute and together with Carlo Pirola, he is Artistic Director of the international band competition "Flicorno d'Oro" of Riva del Garda.

Carlo Pirola

Carlo Pirola teaches Band Instrumentation at the "G. Verdi" Conservatory in Milan. He also collaborated with Teatro alla Scala. He held classes about band conducting and composing at the Municipal Music School of Milan and holds refresher courses for band conductors, with amateurs and professional bands. He won numerous national and international competitions for original band compositions such as the 1st Prize at the "International Competition of Corciano - Perugia" in 1997, the 1st Prize "Famiglia Busi" - A.M.B.E.R. in Bologna, the 1st Prize at the "International Competition of Basilea" C.I.S.M. - DE HASKE in 19981, the 1st Prize at the Competition I. Capitanio of Brescia, the 1st Prize at the International 2000 Competion promoted by the Confédération Musicale de France - Parigi - for an original composition for choir and band and 1st Prize at the National AMBIMA Competition in Rome with the composition "Banda Futura", that will be published by De Haske. His biography and production are quoted in three music dictionaries: " La musica italiana per banda e gruppi di fiati" vol.II by Marino Anesa, the "Neue Lexikon Blasmusikwesens" by W. Suppan - published by Schulz-Freiburg (Germany) - and "The Eritage Encyclopedia of Band Music" by W. H. Rehrig - Integrity Press - Ohio (U.S.A.). He was often invited in Italy and abroad as a jury member in composition contests. He is a member of W.A.S.B.E. Italy. Since 1999 he is together with Marco Bazzoli, a member of the artistic direction of the International Band Competition "Flicorno d'Oro " in Riva del Garda. Carlo Pirola, together with Jan Cober, Armando Franceschini, Felix Hauswirth, Steven Mead, is a teacher of the ISEB (Superior European Institute for Band Studies) in Levico Terme - Trento - Italy.
