The competition is open to all
kinds of bands regardless of the number of their musicians. The bands must be
composed of amateurs, but each band can have professional musicians in a number
not exceeding 10% of the total number of the ensemble members.
Under professional musicians is to understand: conservatory or music academy
teachers, permanent staff members or under a minimum 12 month-period contract by
bands or professional orchestras. The Organizer is entitled to check the
identity of each band member at any time during the whole competition.
Each band must perform:
1) the chosen category compulsory piece, which will be forwarded along with the
enrolment confirmation to the competition before 31st December 2004. The
compulsory pieces are:

2) a piece of own choice from the list published on www.flicornodoro.it. Pieces,
that do not occur on this list, must be submitted to the Artistic Direction.
Preceding it’s contest performance each band is entitled to play a warm-piece,
which will not be evaluated by the Jury.
Bands taking part in the categories Excellence, Superior and
First – must perform a programme - including the warm-up and the compulsory
piece – with an effective playtime of at most 40 minutes and their stay on the
stage must not exceed 45 minutes.
Bands taking part in the categories Second and Third – must
perform a programme - including the warm-up and the compulsory piece – with an
effective playtime of at most 30 minutes and their stay on the stage must not
exceed 35 minutes.
A penalty is foreseen in case of exceeding the time allowed.
APPLICATION
The enrolment fee is Euro 400- for each
participating band and has to be sent to the Secretary’s Office of the
International Band Competition “Flicorno D’Oro”, Via Maffei, 7, P.O. BOX 68 – I
- 38066 RIVA DEL GARDA (TN) by cheque or international postal order by 31st
October 2004 together with the application form and following documentation:
- a historical biography of the band;
- an artistic biography of the band;
- the artistic curriculum of the conductor;
- a photo of the band (possibly lined-up as for a concert);
- a list of the musicians with their personal data and the instruments played
and the indication of any professional musician;
- 5 (five) original copies of the score of the piece of own choice. The
organizers will not be held responsible for photocopied scores. Upon request,
after the competition, the original scores will be returned to the bands, except
one copy which will be kept by the organizers;
- a recent recording;
- a stage plan of the band.
CONDITIONS OF
PARTICIPATION
a) the
Artistic Direction decides which bands are to be admitted
to the competition. Bands will be informed about the
selection’s results in written form by 31st December
2004. In case of rejection the enrolment fee will be
fully refunded;
b) the order of performances within the category will be
determined by the Artistic Direction on the ground of
technical and organizational or artistical reasons.
c) a conductor is not allowed to conduct more than one
band, while a band can be conducted by two different
conductors. The members of a participating band are not
allowed to perform in other formations taking part in the
competition in the same category;
d) any change regarding the musicians will be taken into
consideration by the Artistic Direction and by the
President of the Jury only if communicated in writing at
the latest before the beginning of the competition (19th
March 2005);
e) if the number of the participants in a single category
is not sufficient, the Organizers may cancel that
category;
f) during their stay in Riva del Garda, participating
bands are not allowed to give concerts or performances
without prior permission of the Organizers;
g) all rights of further use of films, videos, photographs
and sound recordings taken during the competition are
reserved to the Organizers;
h) the Organizers are not responsible for any accident to
persons or things during their journey or during the
competition;
i) travel and accomodation costs are at the expense of the
participating bands. In occasion of the Flicorno d’Oro our
Association has reached an agreement with some hotels,
that offer special rates compared to the currently quoted
price list. The hotel self are informed about the
competition program and able to meet all your needs.

PRIZES
a) In each category a score
classification will be drawn up. The band with the highest score will be awarded
the title of category winner and the price consisting in instruments provided by
Yamaha Music Italia for the following value:

c) all participating bands will
receive a Certificate of Participation;
d) the band with the highest score over 90 points will be awarded absolute First
Prize;
e) the Organizers may award further prizes for outstanding achievements and
exceptional performances.
GENERAL INFORMATION
1) The Competition will take
place in Riva del Garda in the Sala 1000 of the Palazzo dei Congressi; the other
side events - parades, concerts, etc. - will take place both in Riva del Garda
and in other places of Garda Trentino. Participating groups will receive a
detailed programme schedule.
2) The entry ticket to the competition is Euro 10,- per day per person, and Euro
25,- for all the competition days.
3) In order to allow an individual planning of your stay in Riva del Garda, we
inform you about the preliminary competition programme:

5) How to reach Riva del Garda:
By car:
Brennero Motorway A22 - exit Rovereto Sud (16 km from Riva del Garda).
By train:
Arrival at Rovereto station (20 km from Riva del Garda), then by bus to Riva.
Arrival at Verona Porta Nuova station (80 km from Riva del Garda), then by bus
to Riva.
By plane:
Verona Villafranca Airport (80 km from Riva del Garda)
Milano: Linate Airport (200 km from Riva del Garda) or Malpensa (260 km from
Riva del Garda).
On request, we can give offers for transfers by private bus from train stations
and airports to Riva del Garda.
FINAL CONDITIONS
The Organizers and the Artistic
Direction reserve the right to consider unusual cases and to find proper
solutions for the good result of the Competition.
Any complaints regarding the Competition regulation should be made to the “Foro
di Rovereto” (TN) and the Italian text will be taken into consideration.
The enrolment to the “Flicorno D’Oro” - 8th International Band Competition of
Riva del Garda implies the acceptance of the above conditions and rules.
