Miro Saje was born in Novo mesto in 1965. He studied trumpet at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana and graduated in 1990 with Professor Anton Grčar. During his studies he performed with The RTV Ljubljana Symphony Orchestra and The Ljubljana Opera House Simphony Orchestra.
He took his first conducting lessons with Antun Poljanič. Studying conducting with Professor Jan Cober at the Brabants Conservatorium in Tilburg in the Netherlands, where he graduated in 1999, was an important milestone in his musical career. In 1995, 1997, 1999 he won the title of the best conductor in the International Wind Orchestra Festival Contest in Riva del Garda, Italy. For many years, Miro Saje has been successfully teaching brass instruments at the Novo mesto Music School. He attends important conducting seminars. During the existence of the Slovenian Youth Wind Orchestra, he operated as its conductor.
Since 2001 he has been a guest conductor of The Slovene Police Orchestra. In May 2004 he recorded a CD with Rundfunk Blasorchester Leipzig for Belgium publisher Beriato. He is well-known as a jury member and guest conductor throughout Europe and in the USA.
