Thomas Trachsel (1972 *), graduated from the Bern University of Music as a wind orchestra conductor and graduated with honors in 2000. He also attended a master class with Andreas Spörri. Thomas Trachsel works as a conductor and guest conductor of various wind orchestras and brass bands as well as a teacher for music theory and music history. He also takes part as an expert at competitions and music festivals. Thomas Trachsel is a freelance composer and has written commissioned works for the Federal Music Festival and the National Youth Brass Band. The musical language in his works is based on the late romantic tradition mixed with contemporary elements.
Typical of his style are sentences and themes with a melancholy effect, large-scale arcs of tension, huge bursts of sound and the extremely demanding type of orchestration.
