Faq Flicorno d'Oro
Flicorno d’Oro is an international competition for amateur bands, divided into categories and judged by celebrities from the international world of music and bands.
All non-professional bands can participate in the competition, with no limit to the number of musicians. Each wind band may include a number of professional musicians not exceeding 10% of the total players. Professional musician means teachers in musical conservatories or authorised music schools, players permanently employed by an orchestra or with a contract of at least 12 months with a professional wind band or orchestra.
The first three classified in each category will be awarded Yamaha Music Europe musical instruments, all participant wind bands receive a certificate of participation.
The wind band with the highest score over 90/100 points will be awarded the Trofeo Flicorno d’Oro.
The results will be announced at the end of the competition, during the prize giving ceremony.
A conductor can conduct more bands taking part in the competition, providing that they are in different categories.
During the prize giving ceremony is required the presence of at least one representative from each participating wind band, who will receive the certificate of participation and the score sheet, plus any eventually awards and trophies. If nobody is present, then the above items will be shipped to the wind band at the expense of the band itself.
Musicians can play in two or more bands taking part in the competition, providing that they are registered in different categories. They may not play in two music groups attending the competition in the same category.
There is an admission fee, the tickets are sold at the entrance of the hall and is not possible to buy them in advance. Groups that booked their accommodation through the Onthego Travel Agency will be granted free admittance to the competition and a rehearsal room (until availability lasts).

The registration deadline is 30th November 2024. Admission to the competition is subject to the decision of the artistic direction and will be communicated in writing by 15 January 2025.
Wind bands taking part in the competition must perform the compulsory piece for their category and a piece of own choice selected from the published lists.
A short warm up piece can be performed for a maximum of 3 minutes and will not be evaluated.
The execution order is:
– warm up max. 3 minutes
– compulsory piece
– piece of own choice.
The artistic direction recommends performing pieces from the chosen category. However, it is possible to make a written request to ask permission for playing a piece from a superior category.
The order of appearance and the program will be set by the organisation according to organisational and logistic requirements and will be communicated in writing to the participating groups.
A date preference can be indicated at the time of registration. The organisation will draw up a calendar trying to consider everyone’s needs. Please remember that the competition will be from Friday to Sunday.
Wind bands taking part in the Excellence Category must perform a programme – including the warm-up, the compulsory piece and the piece of their own choice – with an effective playing time of a maximum of 45 minutes and their presence on the stage must not exceed 50 minutes.
Wind bands taking part in the Superior and First Category must perform a programme with an effective playing time of a maximum of 40 minutes and their presence on the stage must not exceed 45 minutes.
Wind bands taking part in the Second and Third Category must perform a programme with an effective playing time of a maximum of 30 minutes and their presence on the stage must not exceed 35 minutes.
